Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES)

NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) recognises the importance of a diverse workforce and its legal obligations in terms of reporting and monitoring information around protected characteristics. The reporting that we do highlights the current workforce metrics, actions in place to support the equality agenda and current partnership working with the Staff Forum and Trade Union representatives to support future activities.

The Workforce Race Equality Standard requires NHS organisations to demonstrate progress against 9 indicators of workforce equality for Black, Asian and Minority Ethic (BAME) staff and potential staff.

Research and evidence strongly suggests that less favourable treatment of BAME staff in the NHS, through poorer experience or opportunities, has significant impact on the efficient and effective running of the NHS and adversely impacts the quality of care received by all patients.
