Smoking cessation in pregnancy

Smoking is the most significant cause of health inequalities and impacts hugely on the health and wellbeing of our population. For some, the risks start before they are born, with a high number of women recorded as smokers at time of delivery.

Thanks to the commitment of women across Wakefield and the support put in place by Wakefield Integrated Care Partnership, significant progress has been made in addressing this, with a drop in Wakefield’s maternal smoking rates of almost 10% over the last 10 years.
