What we do
NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) plans and pays for local health services for more than 360,000 people who are registered with the 37 GP practices in the Wakefield district.
The CCG works with GP practices, Wakefield Council, providers of health and care and with patient representatives in this area to ensure the right NHS services are in place to support people's health and wellbeing.
Our population includes some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in the UK. Twelve out of the 21 wards in our area are in the UK’s 25% most deprived and life expectancy is below the national average.
There are also above average levels of teenage pregnancy, obesity and smoking-related illnesses such as heart disease, stroke and cancer.
Our aim is to transform healthcare for patients in Wakefield and beyond to reduce health inequalities in the district.
