People can book now using the NHS National Booking System at or by calling 119. This allows people to select an appointment at a time and place to suit them.

As well as the new Boots centre, Wakefield has a large-scale vaccination centre at Navigation Walk and two other pharmacy centres at Morrisons, Dewsbury Road and Pontefract Squash Club. Local GPs are also continuing to work together to provide vaccination services across the district and are busy contacting patients to offer them appointments.

Joanne Fitzpatrick, lead for the vaccination programme in Wakefield, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to get their vaccinations and the new service at Boots gives people another convenient option to choose from. As shops and restaurants are re-opening and more people are returning to work, we have looked at where we can add additional services to help people across the district.

“All our centres are continuing to offer appointments and have availability so if you are eligible, please don’t delay and book your appointment now. It’s easy to do and will help to protect both you and your loved ones.”
